This rugged, organic looking initial pendant is hand crafted using lead free metal and antiqued for an old world style. It is rustic in nature with a custom initial or symbol (fleur de lys or double heart) with a textured back, reminiscent of wax seals used for letters and documents. It is designed to continue to age with wear.

This particular pendant is available in sterling silver, sueded leather, as well as in a kilt/scarf pin, with our without custom dangles.

All of my sealed with style pieces come in a brown reillybelle bag with the initial or design sealed in red wax. The picture used at the bottom is representative of what your packaging will look like. Perfect for gift giving...they make the perfect bridesmaid gifts!

A few weeks ago, I was commissioned to create my sterling silver kilt pins with names on them for a New York media event that would be promoting a website that I sell on. They will be used to pin their "swag bags" shut, and will also double as a name tag, hence the swag bag tag. I readily agreed before I even saw the list! Imagine my face when I opened the list of 25 people that I would be creating reillybelle originals for. Without giving too much away, there were senior editors from just about every magazine I know, plus the big wigs themselves. Just by looking at the pic above, you can guess why I was flipping out! This is one of my all time favorite pieces that I still wear today. It has evolved from resin charms to soldered charms, but the sentiment is still the same. I created adorable soldered necklaces and keychains from this original creation, which I had given to my kids' teachers...talk about a huge hit! I have made many of these for clients that have send me large envelopes of preschool art for me to create these lovely keepsakes. It is so much fun to go through the piles of sweet little pictures and then transform them into an heirloom item! This item falls into my button.wear category. Have you ever noticed that I put dots in between my titles of categories and items? Believe it or not, there is a reason...just like my film strip gallery frames that I discussed in a previous post. I am a full time English teacher on top of being the creative force behind reillybelle original designs, and decided years ago that I would incorporate strong punctuation (the period) in between all of my words to represent that I'm not only a jeweler, but a teacher. This has even crossed over to my school projects! Last year, I introduced the make.a.difference project. All of these little things have helped brand reillybelle over the past six years. There is a reason behind everything I do! I don't stock these anymore, but am always happy to take custom orders for art.gallery necklaces, bracelets, zipper pulls, and key chains. It truly makes the perfect gift for a mom, grandmom, or teacher!

If anyone sold back in the gold ole boutique ebay days beginning in 2003, you would recognize that it was nearly impossible to be seen since the market was flooded. A very smart friend of mine thought our group should use gallery frames to identify our group from others. That certainly caught on throughout the boutique community. At that time, I adopted a branding look of my own with film. So much of my experience on boutique ebay was spent photographing Reilly and then Jackson. It was the time in my life that I fell in love with photography. So the filmstrip was born out of my love of photography and the creative process that I was using to sell my items. It has evolved over the past 6 years and stuck with me...it's not just some cool little graphic...it has a story and a meaning...it is part of the reillybelle branding. I encourage others to connect with something that is meaningful to them as well. You can always tell when it's a reillybelle!

Listing all those beads made me nostalgic for a lot of things that I used to to. Digging through pictures from April 2006, I found my original hand burned and stained wood pendants. These were a huge seller for me...especially in the summer months! I still make these for custom orders, but think it is interesting that 3 years later, I'm still incorporating wood into my paperbag boutique series. Amazing how time flies!

A very special mom had me design a charm bracelet with school pictures of her two beautiful girls over the past 10 years. Each of the 10 charms are double sided, sandwiched between hand cut glass, and soldered on to a thick, sterling bracelet. The tiffany style heart pendant tops it off with hand stamped names. Due to the time it takes to make a bracelet like this, I will not stock this item, but will take special requests on occasion.

Here are some graduation gifts I was commissioned to do this year. The top shows class rings that were hung on a leather necklace, so that the girls could wear them on their finger or around their neck. You may have noticed some differences in my designing focus...that just might have to do with a little law called the CPSIA. As a designer, it has completely frustrated me....as a mom, I totally understand the need for it. Most of you have known me as a children's designer for the past 6 years. Slowly, as Reilly has been growing up, my designs have been growing with her as well. Many designers have chosen to completely close up shop and stop selling. I am going to take this opportunity to shift my focus and be a responsible mom and designer. See...not only should children's jewelry be CPSIA compliant, but their mom's jewelry should as well. How many times does a child under 12 play with their mom's jewels and even stick it in their mouths! Believe me, I'm a middle school teacher and I see 12-14 year olds stick necklaces in their mouths on a daily basis! So, my pledge to you is that I will only be purchasing my supplies from CPSIA compliant sources. I will offer high quality materials in my designs that will be made and purchased in the USA. You will see more of a focus on natural materials like wood and pearls along with sterling and fine silver. I just am not comfortable using items like bottle caps, rhinestones, nickel silver, plastic beads, or any charm or bead made in Hong Kong. I am working on my new Spring line right now that I'll be launching very soon...one of the lines is called dandelion wishes, and the other is called prints on my heart. This picture is a closeup of the 107 necklaces I sent out today for a cheerleading team in Dallas. Most of my business comes from boutiques and larger organizations. I had to snap a pic of this pile of ribbons and washers before I wrapped them all up because it looked so cool. They all say the same thing...I googled it...evidently it is a double secret cheerleader code that no one knows except the cheerleaders and coaches! I was so happy to ship them off today, only to get an emergency order for 30 more today! Rah Rah Rah! ;o)

Yes, it's true...I'm a middle school teacher in real life, but most of you know that already. I've been blogging with my students for the past two years and have found it to be incredibly valuable. Here are two of my informational blogs (ones students don't post on) for any other crafty teachers out there.

The make.a.difference project is a year-long 8th grade project in which each of my 8th graders is required to choose a person or an organization that has made a positive impact on humanity. They research, write, present, and do 8 hours of community service based on their project.

The middle school advisory blog is designed for teachers that are using an advisory program. We meet our advisory 3 times a week for a theme based life skill or character building lesson. The goal is to have the student be able to connect with an adult in the school community where the advising teacher acts as an advocate for the child.

Introducing paper bag boutique wear...a little division of reillybelle originals. These hand stamped pendants come perfectly packaged in a tiny paper bag. An affordable, sweet gift for a friend or yourself!

My new wood pendants have been in the works for awhile. I use a special type of ink and seal each pendant...you can run these under water and the design won't come off!

Each pendant measures an inch and hangs from a silver plated bail and military ball chain that comes standard 16", but I can certainly make it longer or shorter.

On my quest to create more affordable jewelry that is durable and stylish, I decided to add nickel silver to my hard.wear line. There is no silver in nickel silver, it is an alloy used to create a common metal used in zippers, snaps, watchbands, paperclips, etc. Some people have a metal allergy, which makes them choose not to buy this more affordable metal. In thinking of that, I have completely sealed the backs of all my nickel necklaces with a non-toxic glaze so that there is no contact to the skin. Nickel silver will tarnish like regular silver, so the cleaning method is the same. A silver cloth will do.

The square is the new circle this year! ;o) I wanted to create something similar in look to the scrabble tile pendant that was heavier and more durable. I used ceramic tiles that are the same size as a scrabble tile and will customize them with any initial. I've also used a faux solder finish to give the necklace more depth. Each piece is completely sealed with glaze to ensure durability and is finished with a silver plated bail and metal ball chain. This is a great back to school look! OK...this is just a partial reillybelle to do list....this doesn't even include what I have to do for the kids, the house, my job, my life.... I had to close down my website for the week since people are getting ready for back to school and pageant season. I did leave my etsy store open, but changed the announcement to say that I could not begin orders until August 2 and will ship 5-7 days from then. It is just such a pain to put the etsy store on vacation and I feel like I just opened it up again from my last vacation. I have a super cute line that I've been working on that I cannot wait to get rolling when I get more time! Those of you that have known me throughout the years, know the way I keep my sanity with this business is by putting things on vacation. My summer project is to go through the craft store in my studio to rid the excess of 5 years of bead hoarding. No one person could possibly use the amount of beads and buttons that I have in a lifetime! I'll be listing all of these items on a fairly routine basis in the destash category of my etsy store. All of my destash items come in an aluminum storage tin so that they are already packed neatly away and ready for the new bead mama to use! .....just saying....there is a point where one embarrasses themselves by constantly "finding inspiration" in another's work. Isn't it about time to get an original idea? It doesn't even make me angry any more...it makes me laugh because it is so pathetic. I've come to expect the email in my in box from customers showing me your latest. After over 3 years of having my eBay store, I closed it tonight. My website, wholesale, and custom business is not allowing me the time that I need to keep up with my eBay store.
